Focus on the role of food in health

The group felt that food is central to health and lifestyle and this has a clear link to better health outcomes.

Participants felt it was important that people have good quality of life through food. The group felt there was a need to remove the stigma around food banks and free school meals and that everyone should have access to balanced meals. There should be equality of good food and more focus on nutrition rather than excess.

One participant noted that our present food consumption is not sustainable and there should be a greater focus on sustainable diets and national food security, in order to ensure nutritious food for all in the future.
