Encourage more volunteering

Volunteering offers practical and valuable work experience as well as making a contribution to communities. Volunteering should be a first stop for return to work programmes for people doing work experience, as it can provide positive experiences for the individuals and the organisations taking volunteers. It also means that it is communities rather than big business who are getting the benefits.

Why the contribution is important

Volunteering offers benefits to individuals and to communities.

I disagree. I was exploited in a Charity Store where I lost precious time from my job hunt.
I desperately needed clothes for my 9yo son. While we we're choosing between the things to put on sale and those to throw away I asked if I could put aside 2 t-shirts and 2 trousers for my son. They told me it was fine and went and bagged at the counter while we went on working.
On leaving I went to the counter and found they had priced them and asked me to pay the full price.
It was all the money I had and my son was at school. I paid up and the 2 of us had to walk home with the used clothes someone didn't need anymore that had sucked all our money while that store has sucked all my time.
    Never again.
