Effective community engagement which listens to all voices, takes ideas from communities and makes them a reality

There needs to be well resourced community engagement which listens to all parts of the community, finds out what they want, gets good ideas and then turns them into reality. All changes should be informed but this and all decisions should be explained to communities, including how the community engagement contributed to the final decision.

It is important though that it is not just the loudest voices that are heard. Practical steps would be an engagement protocol of how all public authorities should engage and upskilling of staff and members the community so they can carry out this work and take part fully.

Why the contribution is important

Decisions taken with community involvement are better. People are feeling frustrated at not being involved and not having their voices heard.
