Showcase good practice examples and services [including those that might be below the radar of other services]

When things are going well or doing good things, we need to tell people. Scottish culture can be quite modest and resistant to ‘showing off’, but we need to spread the word about things that work.

This is especially important for services that happen beneath the welfare radar.

Why the contribution is important

This is important to learn from others, spread good practice and support improvements so we can do things better.

Idea from Fairer Scotland Midlothian Planning Event:

Showcase good practice examples and services including those from other nations

There are also good examples of welfare policy from other countries, particularly Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland. They all have higher rates of tax and have pride in paying tax. We could change the image of taxation and what it means as an act.

Idea from Fairer Scotland Dumfries Planning Event:

There should be a cap for wages in the public sector - should cap highest salaries. The public sector can lead the way on wage restraint and save public money at the same time. There should be a maximum salary that people can earn. No one in the public sector gets paid more than the prime minister. We could just tax high salaries more.
