Prescription charges

there seems to be too much debate on whether it should be free for all and too much red tape to means test so why not have the option of a voulantary contribution going direct to the Scottish nhs

Why the contribution is important

A lot of people feel it’s unfair that the more able to pay don’t as well as a lot of persons (myself included) who feel able to pay can’t

this is an indirect taxation so no bad press on increasing taxes overall

It leads to over-prescribing - only people on welfare or the working poor should get free prescriptions, should have to pay something

I think long term sicknesses need to be taken into account here, yes welfare and working poor should receive free prescriptions but long term sicknesses can make a person working poor. Also believe that there should be a review on the cost of some meds example being paracetamol.
