Locking up Care Home Residents.

I would like the COVID enquiry to look at why families were prevented from visiting care homes, what evidence was used to base this decision on, how was the virus introduced into so many homes and why this section of our society and their families had no voice and their situation ignored for so long.

Why the contribution is important

I was denied access to my mother for 15 months. I did not see her or was able to speak to her in all that time. She couldn’t use the phone or technology and became bedridden. At the start of the pandemic she could sit in her chair, was cheery and could communicate. Being locked in her room meant no contact and no stimulation as a result she is now just existing. This is a shocking thing to do to members of our society and must never happen again,

No access to see my wife’s mother for over 15 months restrictions still apply with visiting outdoors. So outrageous to deny access to elderly relatives fir so long. Unforgivable.

Totally agree, the loss of quality of life and family connection is horrendous, and we have to ask who were we protecting?
