Scottish Life Science industry input

As part of this Public Inquiry, it would be valuable to gain input and specific experience from the expert Life Science industry in Scotland, particularly those involved in clinical research and vaccine development.
The benefit of direct input from these key stakeholders can be of immense value in balancing some of the emotional / subjective responses and feedback which will, undoubtedly, be given during this consultation.

Why the contribution is important

Industry can provide evidence based and real world information of the impact that Scottish Government's response to the pandemic has positively or negatively impacted processed in supporting healthcare and vaccine development / roll out.
There are several key areas where the Scottish Government's pragmatic approach to response have enabled the continuation of key work and key workers which has ensured Scotland's wider community have benefited from access to support as well as protection for those most vulnerable.

Expert Industry input is a good idea.

Input from those in life sciences would be valuable. Naturally they would need to declare any conflicts of interest, what funding they received as a result of the pandemic, papers published (which can leverage further funding) and so on. Although the term "industry" is used, there is also much clinical research work carried out in the NHS and universities which, given the pro-lockdown social media videos some of these departments had time to produce, gives an indication that their views may be somewhat biased.
