3 Parks
I suggest setting up 3 independent but linked parks
The first would be a wilderness park where humanity and our concerns are not the priority. It would appeal to the sacred in us. I define sacred to mean that it is off limits. We just let it be. Let nature do her work. After a period off time (say 50 years) we assess what has happened. This assessment should be undertaken by experts with their values fully stated and no be biddable to financial interests. I suggest Rannoch Moor for this first park. Existing access such as the railway line would continue but any new development would be prohibited.
A second park would be managed to promote biodiversity and visitor access. I suggest a West Highland Rainforest Park around the western seaboard between Mallaig and Applecross. The outcomes of the two parks could be compared and contrasted after a period to see which better achieved its objectives.
I am aware that there can be a problem with over grazing by, especially, deer. So I propose a third park/estate whose constitution would have the management of the deer as its priority rather than the facilitation of some human objective. I do not proposing the introduction of wolves or some other predator to keep number and gene pool healthy and in check. I propose that we consider regulated hunting with pain-ball type rifles as a way of marking the less fit for eventual removal by professional marksmen. I am not a hunter or a fisher myself and am least happy with this third element.

Why the contribution is important
I think there should be some place for wilderness even in a small country like Scotland and that will benefit the need for sacredness in all of us.
I think we should value and be seen to do something about our own rainforest rather than preach to other countries like Brazil and Indonesia.
I also think we should be better stewards of the environment and show proper respect to other species.
