community benefit

1. Mandatory minimum community shared ownership
Good Practice Principles should agree that developers offer at least 10% community ownership in all commercially viable onshore wind and solar projects, either directly, via a community trust, cooperative structure, or through an equivalent elected ownership model.

or

2. Profit-linked community benefit funds
Rather than per-megawatt recommendations, the Principles should allow community benefit arrangements that include a community benefit fund of at least 10% of net annual profits over the lifetime of the project.

Why the contribution is important

Community ownership gives local people a stake in the asset itself, rather than only an annual fund, and helps support long-term community wealth building and greater trust between the industry and places hosting infrastructure.

or

A profit-linked model ensures that benefits reflect actual project performance and share in value generated over time
