Restrict Sports / Touring Cycling - Equality!

I'm writing about 50+ mile tours around the countyside, not maw, paw and the weans out for a toodle in lieu of their daily walk.

Sports Cyclists ares uniquely priviledged during the lockdown as being able to continue with their sport while other low-contact ones like golf, tennis, cricket and sailing are under the cosh. Even dog-walking is severely restricted. Cyclists are allowed to carry their potential bugs from town-to-town and to remote local shops to buy water and other stuff.

There are many stories about minority bad behaviour and for a few it's akin to a contact sport.

But the main point I wish to make is about equality. If they can do it, why can't the rest of us?

Why the contribution is important

Discriminatory and breeds resentment.

Responsible cyclists do not pop in to local shops to buy water etc. They cycle from home and come into contact with noone else.

This morning while walking on a country road a cyclist came the other way. I was walking on right, facing oncoming traffic and politely signalled for him to pull out further - no other traffic, pedestrains or anything. He continued and passed at 1m, huffing and puffing.

    So much for responsible cycling.

Erm, because for some of us it's a 30 mile round trip for the weekly shop on the bike - for some even more!
