Schools

Schools need to go back, I am single parent and will end up having to give up my job, I am not a teacher and do not feel it is fair to put pressure on the parents to home school. Is the government going to pay the parents a teachers wages to home school, teachers will be getting paid for not teaching whilst I have to give up my job and go on benefits as I can’t work if my child is not at school. I will also have to look for cheaper place to rent. So please think of the working parents who have no choice but to work and if schools remain closed we have no option but to give up jobs and go on benefits.

    Teachers are working- many of our teaching staff are working in hub schools which are open 7 till 7 , 7 days a week.
    Teachers have also had to entirely turn around the curriculum and deliver and set work using online platforms in the space of 2 days.
    Teachers are creating materials and being available to their classes.
    And many teachers are also parents too and having to work for other people's children and ignore their own.
    Would you be eligible to use a school hub?

    Teachers are working right now. They are not sitting home getting paid to do nothing. They are working far longer hours than you can imagine, using their own electricity and their own broadband, wear and tear on their own homes to provide "remote" learning. Teachers are not childminders or childcare providers, and many of us have our own children at home right now too.

    I am sorry that your personal circumstances are so challenging at the moment, but ........Teachers are working! I am on a rota to look after key workers + vulnerable children plus prepare lessons for all my classes. Then give feedback to them all. It is hugely time consuming and I am trying to do it whilst looking after my own children too.
