As a commercial trout fishery that serves the local community, and those from slightly further afield, I can confidently reopen with precautionary measures in place.
Social distancing is not a problem as anglers fish from platforms that are at least 6-10 metres apart.
Many of my regulars are elderly and it’s sometimes their only time they get out and enjoy the fresh air and natural surroundings. I cater for anglers with special needs, both physical and mentally.
We had a lot of safety precautions in place before we locked down and as far as I’m aware, not one of our regulars has been infected. To reinstate these measures, and any additional preventative actions, will not be difficult for us to put in place to comply.

Why the contribution is important

It is important for a lot of our angler’s wellbeing. Angling is well documented as being an ideal pastime and leisure activity for those suffering with mental health problems. We also provide a safe environment that allows those with physical disabilities to enjoy the outdoors.
We provide a very important recreational activity for the people of Banchory and Aberdeen and we are seen as a crucial part of that local community.
